Story
I am doing Beards of Hope this year to raise funds and awareness for the Bears of Hope organisation.
Last December my Fiance Jess and I lost our unborn baby at 14weeks.
We were in Launceston for the night and due to head down to Hobart in the morning for a scan when it happened. It was a very suddern shocking event to go through. Before we left the Launceston hospital the next morning one of the nurses gave us a Bears of Hope pack. It was the first reminder that others had and were going through similar situations to us, and for a while the bear felt like the only thing we had of our baby.
The doctors ran tests afterwards and we later found out our baby had Trisomy 18, a chromosomal abnormality, and that he was a boy.
We named him Theodore James.
Bears of Hope are a non-profit organisation who provide support and care for families during the loss of a baby. I recommend even if you don't donate to check out their website to see all the good they do.
For the next few months I will be growing my beard for TJ and to raise money and support for the Bears of Hope group so they can continue to support families in a time when everything feels hopeless.
